Valentine's Day Race– February 14, 2011
A quick one day race around marks in the Bay of La Paz with the finish at the municipal pier.
Post race report: The race started slow at 11AM with virtually no wind. (see photos below) The fleet of 11 boats lolled along the starting line at Punta Prieta for about 45 minutes before the wind came up to about 8kts.
An F31 trimarran and those flying chutes did the best in the light air and on the run from the outer mark back to the starting line and entrance to the ensenada de La Paz was under light to moderate air with the spinnaker class doing rather nicely.
Due to the slow start the fleet ran into a strong outbound tide from the ensenada de La Paz and was stranded for nearly 2hrs some boats dropping anchor against the tide.
The race was called at 2:30PM with vessels marking their position for scoring.
