Full Moon Regatta – January 19-21, 2011

Results

The premier event of 2011, this three day regatta promises to challenge the skills of sailors and provide a circumnavigation of Espritu Santos.

The pre-race captain's meeting will take place at 7PM on January 16th at the3 Dock Cafe located in Marina de La Paz.

The race will begin at the entrance to the Ensenada de La Paz on January 19 and sail north to Espiritu Santos north of La Paz. The first night will be in Caleta Partida, the best and largest anchorage in between the islands of Espiritu Santos and La Partida.

The second day of the race will begin with a northward leg, pass close (as you dare, or care to take time for) to Los Islotes, the sea lion colony, then turn south and tour the east side of the islands before taking anchorage in Bonanza Beach on the night of the 20th. On the 21st the boats will race through the San Lorenzo Channel and across the Bay of La Paz to the finish line at the Municipal Pier.

Norther's are always a possibility at this time of year and schedule updates will be issued on the 8AM Channel 22 morning net in La Paz. Safety is always our greatest concern so racers should be prepared for a Lay-day in Partida. With luck a good north wind will bring all the boats home on the final leg to an exciting finish.

A get together at La Costa Restaurant will immediately follow the race on the 21st and the awards ceremony will take place on January 27 at 7PM at Mr Azucars on Blvd 5 Febrero.

All race boats will receive a commemorative plaque or award, 2 t-shirts (additional shirts will be available for purchase)

Awards Ceremony to be held at 7PM on January 27 at Mr Azucars on Blvd 5 de Febrero three blocks up from the Pemex station.
